Every Friday night at Dove Creek Cafe there is a band of some sort. My pops has said many times, "There isn't anything better than live music!" I totally agree. I don't really care what kind of music it is as long as I can watch the instruments being played. I am always fascinated by the musicians and wish I was musically gifted. Argh. Tonight my mom called me just as I was leaving the office to join them for dinner at Dove Creek and to watch Brush Arbor Boys. I consider turning down a free meal to be absolutely sinful so I drove 55 minutes to the restaurant (it was on my way home but traffic on I-35 at 6:30pm on a Friday is terrible). The band was great and I find myself desperately wanting/needing a banjo! I never thought I'd enjoy gospel music so much but alas, there I was and loving every second of it :) I receive weekly email notifications about who will be playing, thanks to pops who signed me up a few months ago, and I already know I'll be there with my parents again next week!
When the restaurant was closing and it was time to leave, meaning 8pm as 95% of the restaurant patrons are senior citizens, my mom grabbed a gift bag and said, "Merry Christmas!" Haha, she bought me an early present! I LOVE gifts so I quickly unwrapped the bag. I was disappointed at first because I pulled out a book I already own (one of my all time favorites), even though it is no longer in my possession- thanks to Big Sis. I opened it up and saw that it was an autographed copy and I was so excited! I pulled out the other 2 gifts to find that one was a sequel to the first book and the other was the audiobook and both were autographed. It seems my mom was at a store earlier today and as fate would have it, two of my favorite authors were having a book signing there!
I have read A LOT of books in my time and only two have ever brought me to tears. Same Kind of Different As Me is one of them and I am so excited to read it again! I've actually been wanting to reread it for a few months now but refused to buy another copy. Ron Hall and Denver Moore's latest book, What Difference Do It Make?, looks to be really inspiring and I can't wait to read it this weekend. Going to Barnes and Noble to buy it has been on my to do list for weeks and now I don't have to thanks to my amazing mom!

*** Modoc was the other book that made me cry, just in case you're wondering. I recommend that one too ;) ***

My mom only got a pic of Ron Hall. Same Kind of Different As Me is being made into a movie and I'm sure that's one I'll watch over and over :)

Mona is back at Chez Rey and she wanted to read my book too! SOOOOO cute ;)
