American Girl books have played a huge role in my life. I can remember reading about Samantha, Kirsten and Molly in first grade and now I feel like I am losing my precious memories forever :( Last year, Samantha was retired and my heart broke when I was told the sad news. Tonight as I was flipping through the American Girl magazine with my mom, we found out that this fall/winter, Kirsten is retiring. I guess Molly will be leaving us next fall. This is truly the end of an era and I am just devastated about it. My facebook friend said, "I'm so disappointed that my daughters won't be able to find the same girls that I enjoyed most as a child." My sentiments exactly! To my knowledge, none of the "new" American Girls tell the story of women's suffrage or frontier life or World War II. These are very important events in American history and they deserve to be told in a way that young girls can understand. This is absolutely tragic. I wonder how Pleasant Rowland feels about her first and most beloved charcters being stolen from future generations...

Forever my favorite! My mom says we're all her Samantha :)
My twin- I wore glasses and always thought I looked the most like Molly :)
I don't know that visiting the American Girl stores will ever be the same for me. It's heartbreaking to think that Samantha and Kirsten will never again join us at our tables for afternoon tea, unless Mama Rey takes her doll. I will forever dine with an empty doll highchair at my side...
Never again :(
Cute teacup!
Mom and her American Girls!
*These pics are 2 years old. Such fun times! More recent ones just weren't as good.*
